Yesterday, reports emerged that popular Afropop singer, Kizz Daniel was arrested in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and detained by CAF for allegedly refusing to perform after receiving payment. However, Kizz Daniel has come out to deny these reports in a statement released on his Instagram page.
According to the singer, the organizers failed to pay him for his performance despite a signed contract which clearly stated that there would be no performance without payment. He went on to say that he still performed despite not receiving payment and only left the event when his team was assaulted backstage.
Kizz Daniel clarified that he was not arrested and that the reports were false. He urged his fans to disregard the rumors and assured them that he was safe and well.
Kizz Daniel wrote:
“This might definitely get a lot of people in trouble but damn, enough is enough /
*CAF didn’t deal with us directly, it was through an agent
* The agent signed my contract which states “no money no performance”
* I agreed to fly in regardless, after sO many appeal and of cuz excuses on bank transfer delay with the promise of receiving the money upon arrival in Abidjan
*Till now no payment , not even the alleged amount mentioned
*I still chose to support CAF and went ahead to the venue to perform without payment, but unfortunately my 3 min performance slot was up.
* my team were assaulted back stage and i decided to take my leave
I am not arrested by CAF OR DETAINED WHATSOEVER e] AM FINE AND HEADING TO LONDON FOR MY SHOW NOV 12, OVO ARENA , WEMBLEY”
