Coach Stephen Keshi has revealed his desire to dump the Super Eagles if the Nigeria Football Federation does not finalise his new contract negotiations quickly. Keshi’s negotiations with the NFF have dragged on for weeks, with Eagles coach refusing the N5m monthly salary on offer from the NFF.
Speaking with through his representative, Emmanuel Ado, on Wednesday, Keshi maintained that time was running out and that the former Super Eagles captain might be forced to consider other options at his disposal. “NFF has the whole time but we don’t have all the time at our disposal. We cannot continue to wait because we have done the necessary things in the negotiation process.
“We decided to wait because of patriotism and the respect we have for Mr. President, the Senate President and Nigerians who have called for continuity,” Ado said. He added that the pace at which the contract negotiation is going is detrimental to the coach’s plans considering his responsibility to his family.
Ado said; “I want to state that talks are still on going but there is no progress in the discussion. The pace is very slow and this has given us the need to consider other options. “I also wish to also state that we are not beggars and Keshi has other options at his disposal, but we cannot continue to wait because he has a responsibility to his family. We hope Nigerians will understand that he can’t continue to remain jobless or wait for the job while his responsibility to his family suffers.”
Ado stressed that his client who has demanded N15m monthly salary is entitled to improved remunerations and better working condition. “Is there anything wrong in demanding better salary? We have put our cards on the table and the NFF should also do the same rather than giving an impression in the media that Keshi is making a huge demand,” he stressed.
Keshi further added that, “I cannot continue on the same terms as I did for over two years for the next four years. And if they (NFF) have offered me the same terms, it’s just them telling me they don’t want me again; it’s as simple as that.”
