Kendrick Lamar has been crowned the “Greatest Pop Star” of 2024 by Billboard, following a standout year on the Billboard Hot 100. His success was fueled in part by his highly publicized feud with Canadian rapper Drake, during which Lamar released several chart-topping tracks, including the number one hit “Not Like Us.”
This marks the first time a rapper has earned the title of Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star since Drake in 2018.
In other Billboard news, Mariah Carey’s classic holiday song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has now matched the record for the longest-running number one song in Hot 100 history, sharing the honor with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” all holding the top spot for 17 weeks. Remarkably, all three of these record-breaking songs feature Black lead artist.
