A keke driver was lynched shortly after stabbing a young man named Douglas Joseph to death over N50.
According to accounts, the event occurred in the Yenizue-Epie community in Bayelsa State’s Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Douglas Joseph, 30, was a local of the town and a father of three when he was attacked by the Keke driver.
According to an eyewitness, the keke driver charged the passenger N150 for a fare that should have been N100. Douglas, the passenger, refused to pay the fare, resulting in a fight.
“He said he was coming from Opolo community to Kpansia which was supposed to be N100, but the Keke rider insisted on collecting N150.
“As we were separating them, we saw the Keke rider bring out a dagger. We thought it was just to scare the youth. But he stabbed him on his lap and the young man fell to the ground. People prevented the Keke rider from running away. Unfortunately, the wounded victim died.
Following the death of the passenger, “the Keke rider was lynched by a mob that hit him with different objects”, the eyewitness added.
