After we witnessed the rape and gruesome murder of Barakat Bello in ibadan, and Vera Uwaila Omozuwa in Benin, another lady was reported to have been raped and killed in Oyo state. However, the initial reports erroneously had it that Shomuyiwa Azeezat, who was a student of the University of Ibadan was raped and killed. But, the students’ union of the university has openly debunked the rape possibilities in Azeezat’s death.

The union’s president, Akeju Olusegun, who visited the residence of the deceased confirmed that she was hit on the head with a heavy stone. He also gathered that no traces of rape were discovered. Shockingly, it was also discovered that Azeezat was seven months pregnant before her death.

Azeezat’s death, despite not rape intended, has more suspicious circumstances surrounding it. It will be enlightening if Azeezat’s boyfriend or whoever impregnated her can be located. Although, Azeezat’s co-tenants have been arrested, the investigation will be thoroughly incomplete without confirming the relationship status of the deceased. While it is useful to think outside the box, Azeezat’s death may have something to do with her pregnancy, this is however a mere observation.
