Following a trip to the Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State, 500 accounting students from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State perished in a terrible accident.
The tragedy happened on Wednesday night while they were leaving Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo in Osun State to visit the waterfall.
The student was being transported in a bus when it caught fire; the accident’s cause is unknown as of the time this story is being filed.
Lekan Fadeyin, the school’s public relations officer, verified the disaster and stated that lives were lost in it, but he was unable to provide an exact number until he had more information.
The school spokeswoman added, “I can confirm to you that there was an accident while several pupils passed away, but I have not acquired the information of their identities.
Another unfortunate occurrence occurred on Wednesday along the Ota-Idiroko route in Ogun State, where one person perished and two others were hurt.
It was discovered that the accident happened at around 7:20 in the morning near the Iju River bridge.
The Iveco truck with the license plate AAA969ZY, the Ford small truck with the registration number BDG340XZ, and the unregistered Man Diesel truck were all involved, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Eight male adults were involved, according to Florence Okpe, an FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, who also stated that “two people were injured and one person was killed from the multiple crash, while the remaining five were unhurt.”
Okpe revealed that the dead body had been left at the morgue in Ifo General Hospital, while the injured victims had been brought to Ota General Hospital for medical assistance.
According to the FRSC, one of the vehicles’ mechanical issues was thought to be the root of the several crashes.
Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, had previously asked drivers to always be aware of their cars and fix any problems they found to prevent traffic accidents.
