Investigations have revealed that Nigerian entertainer, Julius ‘The Genius’ Agwu, may have spent over N10m on the recently held 2014 edition of his comedy show, Crack Ya Ribs.
The event took place at the main house of the Hackney Theatre Empire in London, a fully restored Edwardian music hall with a famous history for playing host to a variety of events from concerts to plays and musicals, awards ceremonies and corporate events.
Findings revealed that the venue, which is tagged ‘the most beautiful theatre in London,’ is rented out at over £5,000 (N1.4m).
Other cost areas include transportation of show headliners, 8 entertainers from Nigeria to London, branding, publicity, accommodation and professional fees for service rendered.
By estimation, this was over N10m, although the cost could be far more if all the performers travelled upper class from Lagos.
Nigerian entertainers billed for the comedy show include Akpororo, FunnyFace, Osama and Pencil, along with Phyno, Chidinma, Patoranking, Illbliss, Dizzy VC, DJ Abass and DJ Osa Jatt.
Meanwhile, investigations revealed that the humour merchant expects over N28m in returns from the sale of the tickets, which go for £50 and £25.
