Former Coach of Super Falcons, Mr. Joseph Ladipo fondly called Jossy Lad died Thursday in his residence at Kuole Area of Apata, Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, southwest Nigeria.

Jossy Lad who died around 10:15am despite efforts by friends and family to save his life had been battling with a heart related illness.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the late coach was discharged from the Southwest Ward 3 of the University College Hospital (UCH) on Friday, 3 May after assurances from the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Temitope Alonge that his condition had improved.

However, according to his son, Wale, he suffered a relapse and was to be flown abroad for proper medical attention but for financial constraints.

Sources told P.M.NEWS that his body was taken to the mortuary in an ambulance provided by the Southwest zone of the National Sports Commission.

Reacting to his death, Chairman, 3SC, Toyin Akintunde, who was in Abuja for a meeting of NPFL Club managers with League Management Committee said on telephone that Jossy Lad’s death was shocking.

“There is virtually nothing we can do when God says the time has come. We tried our best but our dad has gone to rest with the Lord. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he added.

Also, Chairman Ibadan Football Association IFA,and Lad’s close associate, Alhaji Banji Akintayo, who also witnessed his last moments said: “he lived a fulfilled life, as a footballer, a coach and an administrator. He distinguished himself in his career and left promising children behind. So we cannot but thank God for his life.”

Also his erstwhile teammate, Niyi Akande said: “I have lost a great teammate, colleague and good friend. I feel so sad and short of words.”
