The one-cap Super Eagle will be back in training in two weeks after undergoing a knee surgery

John Ogu came on for the Super Eaglesin the match against Kenya in Calabar last month and has been listed in in the 30-man list released by Stephen Keshi to prosecute World Cup qualifiers in June and also the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Ogu, who plays in Portugal for Academica Coimbra confirmed to Goal.com that he has had to undergo an operation on his knee but that he will be back to training in two weeks.

“I was carrying a knock when I came to play in Calabar and when I got back, I went to see a specialist who advised that I undergo the procedure,” Ogu told Goal.com.

“But I am fine now and will be back in training in two weeks’ time,” he added.

The 1.92m tall midfielder also spoke of realising the dream of playing for the national team and what that appearance against Kenya has done to him.

“Playing for the Super Eagles was something I had been praying for as it is a great thing to represent one’s nation.

“It was a dream come true for me and my family and it has inspired me to work harder so as to get to the top in the game.”

The 24-year concluded by saying: “Tell my fans that I will be back in the Super Eagles and I will be ready to take on any opponent for my country.”
