Renowned Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has been declared the winner of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.
According to NAIJALOG, Dumelo, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The parliamentary election took place during Ghana’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Dumelo secured victory with 40,561 votes, while Alhassan garnered 27,377 votes.
This marks a significant milestone for Dumelo, who had previously contested for the same seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.
Starting his acting career in 1991 while still a student, Dumelo has since featured in numerous films across Gollywood and Nollywood, solidifying his status as a celebrated actor.
