Jennifer Lopez has reportedly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, according to US media on Tuesday, marking the end of their renewed relationship after tying the knot just two years ago.
The Hollywood power couple, famously dubbed “Bennifer” during their initial romance in the early 2000s, rekindled their love nearly two decades later. However, Lopez submitted divorce papers in a Los Angeles court, as reported by Variety and celebrity site TMZ.
Neither Lopez’s representative nor Affleck’s publicist has commented on the news.
This marks Lopez’s fourth marriage and Affleck’s second. The two first met in 2002 on the set of the critically panned film *Gigli* and quickly became media darlings, eventually getting engaged. However, they postponed their wedding in 2003 and broke up in early 2004.
“Bennifer” made headlines again in 2021 when they were spotted together, rekindling their romance. Lopez called their reunion a “beautiful love story” during an interview at the time.
They announced their engagement in April 2022 and married in a private Las Vegas ceremony in July. The following month, they held a grand celebration at Affleck’s estate in Georgia, with guests including Matt Damon and Kevin Smith.
Last year, the couple reportedly purchased a $60 million home in Los Angeles, but rumors of trouble began circulating earlier this year. Observers noted Lopez celebrated her 55th birthday without Affleck, and TMZ reported they had sold their shared home, with Affleck moving into a luxury bachelor pad.
Sources told People magazine that the couple’s different attitudes toward fame created tension. Lopez is known for her openness with fans, while Affleck prefers to keep his private life guarded, which reportedly caused strain.
TMZ cited divorce papers listing their separation date as April 26, 2024, and claimed the pair is no longer on speaking terms.
Lopez was previously married to Ojani Noa, Cris Judd, and Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins Max and Emme. Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
