Gloria Carter, mother of Jay Z, demonstrated last weekend that you’re never too old to fall in love by getting married to Roxanne Wilshire, a longtime lesbian partner.
The wedding, which took place on Sunday night in New York, was undoubtedly a star-studded occasion, with Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter) leading the way like a proud father.
He was accompanied by his wife Beyonce, 41, who was spotted balancing on her daughter Blue Ivy, 11, while wearing towering heels. The two wore evening gowns that were appropriately glamorous for the event, and the singer of Break My Soul completed her peach ensemble with a feather wrap.
Along with Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles-Lawson and her cousin Angie Beyince, they entered the Manhattan venue while Julius, the singer’s devoted bodyguard, cleared the way.
Other attendees, according to TMZ, were Kelly Rowland, Tyler Perry, Robin Roberts, and Corey Gamble. They partied hard, since the reception in Tribeca ended at approximately 1am.
As the celebration came to an end, the newlyweds were spotted departing with Roxanne wearing a magnificent gold and white shimmering dress and Gloria wearing a white suit.
Since his mother, 53-year-old Jay Z, came out as homosexual in his 2017 song Smile, which was featured on his album 4:44, Jay Z has been outwardly accepting of his mother’s sexuality. The Grammy-winning rapper discusses Gloria’s years of disguising her lesbian identity while raising four children in the song.
He also expressed his joy at the fact that Roxanne had found a partner.
