The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning to candidates about fraudulent messages circulating online, urging them to reprint their exam slips for a resit. The board has clarified that these messages did not originate from JAMB but are the work of scammers attempting to deceive the public.
According to a statement released by Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the fake alerts were sent through a spoofed version of the board’s official short code (66019). The misleading messages specifically targeted candidates who had already taken the resit exam and received their UTME results, asking them to reprint slips for another round of exams.
Benjamin emphasized that there are no scheduled exams at the moment, and those who have completed their resit and received results should disregard the messages.
“These messages are false and meant to cause unnecessary confusion. The only exams JAMB is planning are the upcoming foreign UTME, held across select countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Additionally, a mop-up exam is being arranged for candidates who missed both the main and resit exams, particularly those with biometric issues, and who have been granted a one-time waiver for 2025,” he explained.
The board urged the public to be cautious and ignore such deceptive messages, assuring that eligible candidates for the mop-up examination will be notified in due course.
