Veteran Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has weighed in on the heated industry debate regarding film promotion, firmly stating that she will not resort to dancing on social media just to sell tickets.
The Stance
During a recent interview on TVC Entertainment, the actress criticized the growing trend where filmmakers feel compelled to participate in viral dance challenges to drive sales. She argued that marketing should remain structured and dignified.
She declared:
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be dancing to market or promote my movie. It’s not professional. I’ve done the movie, now I just have to go around and promote it,”
Aligning with Afolayan
Her comments add fuel to an ongoing fire ignited by filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who recently faced backlash from box office titans Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham for expressing similar sentiments. Like Afolayan, Omotola insists that a filmmaker’s duty is to produce quality work, not to perform antics for attention.
Upcoming Project
The actress made these remarks while preparing for the release of her new film, Mother’s Love, which is set to hit cinemas on March 6, 2026. She clarified that while she enjoys dancing personally, she refuses to make it a mandatory part of her business model
