Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has condemned the invasion of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters, calling it unnecessary, unjustifiable, and reprehensible.
Sani suggested that the action was likely based on false or misleading information or orchestrated by an agent provocateur. He called for the immediate withdrawal of the security agents occupying the Labour House.
In a post on X, he wrote: “The invasion of the NLC headquarters is needless, unconscionable, and condemnable. It must have been a product of false or misleading information or the handiwork of an agent provocateur. The security agents reportedly occupying the Labour House should be withdrawn.”
According to NAIJALOG, the NLC had raised alarm over the invasion of its office by security forces. In a statement signed by Comrade Benson Upah, Head of Media and Public Relations, and shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, the labour union claimed that heavily armed security operatives had stormed the Labour House in the Central Business District of Abuja.
The NLC has demanded the immediate withdrawal of federal government armed security agents from its premises.
