The governors of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Osun States—Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and Seyi Makinde—have declared Tuesday, August 20, 2024, as a work-free day for public servants in observance of this year’s Isese Day, a significant celebration for traditional worshippers across Yorubaland.
In Lagos, the announcement was made through a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, which confirmed the governor’s approval of the holiday. Public servants are expected to resume work on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Similarly, Ogun State’s Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, noted in a statement that the holiday allows traditional worshippers across the state to fully participate in their religious observances, reflecting the state’s commitment to fostering religious harmony despite its diversity.
