The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Adamawa State governorship election inconclusive, prolonging the wait for Nigeria’s first female governor.
According to Daily Trust, the electoral body made the announcement on Monday night at the state collation center in Yola.
Prior to the announcement by INEC, it was reported that the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was leading the polls with 421,524 votes.
Meanwhile, Senator Aishatu Dahiru, the All Progressives Congress (APC) opposition candidate, polled 390,275 votes, according to Channels TV.
INEC declared the election inconclusive due to the narrow margin of votes, according to Vanguard.
