Mrs Nnaemeka Nwachukwu, a microbiologist with one of Plateau State’s research institutes in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area, was arrested in Jos for brutalizing her maid.
According to reports, the deceased, a Kebbi State native known as Margaret Joshua, allegedly fled insurgency in her community before being taken to serve in Nwachukwu’s home in Jos by a supposed helper.
According to a source who spoke with Vanguard, the deceased was never enrolled in school by her guardian, who regularly abused her.
According to reports, the deceased was recently beaten and forced to sit on a bucket of hot water, which burned her bum.
This led to her death, as she died on November 14, 2022, after being taken to the hospital.
According to Mrs. Grace Pam, the Plateau State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, whose office is investigating the case, the little girl’s guardians must have tortured her repeatedly while she lived with the family, based on the number of scars and bruises on her body.
In her words;
“Our attention was called to the situation, on Monday, by a staff in the hospital, who said that an 11-year-old girl was seriously beaten and injured by her guardian, in Vom.
The girl had scars and burns on her body. We were told that she was taken to Mandela hospital in Kaduna Vom before she was referred to Jos.
“When some of our staff met with the suspect at the Police Station in Vom where she was detained, she confessed she has been beating her and claimed the girl used to massturrbbate, so she was punishing her so she that could stop.
She claimed she did not know what used to come over her because she felt bad anytime she beats the child.”
