Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has dismissed claims that he is underrated in the film industry.
During a recent appearance on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, the Nupe-born star emphasized that he is not overlooked, pointing out that he ranks among the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria.
“People often say Ibrahim Chatta is underrated. No, I’m not. I’m one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in the country,” he stated.
Chatta also shared insights into his journey to stardom, recalling his days as a “studio rat” when he worked on promotional jingles and movie soundtracks.
“I took on responsibilities to make myself stronger. At one point, I told my mum not to send me foodstuffs anymore, even though I wasn’t truly comfortable,” he revealed.
He recounted working as a bus conductor to make ends meet and later getting a break in writing and composing soundtracks for over 400 films and promotional jingles for over 400 firms.
“Back then, I wasn’t known as an actor. I had studios in Ikeja and other locations. I would write songs, sing, and perform in the studio,” he reminisced.
