MC Oluomo, Chairman of the Lagos Parks Management Committee, urges those planning to vote for a party other than the APC in the upcoming Lagos governorship and state assembly elections on Saturday, March 18, 2023, to stay at home.
MC Oluomo, a known supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, stated this during a campaign on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
In an online video, the union chairman addresses a large crowd, urging party supporters to tell their neighbors not to bother coming out to vote if they do not intend to vote for the APC.
Even though he stated that it is not, the warning delivered in Yoruba may be perceived as a subtle threat.
“We’ve appealed to them, if they won’t vote for us, it’s nothing to fight over,” he says in his speech, which is loosely translated. Please go and meet them and say Iya Chukwudi, please sit down at home if you don’t want to vote for us.”
As seen on Twitter, the Igbo community interpreted it as a threat to deprive them of their voting rights.

@dotcom_ray: “If you have lived in Lagos then you know an average agbero makes empty threats and the moment you resist them, that threat dies down 👎. I see no reason these guys can’t be resisted when you have the numbers no matter the location you are”
@5Linus: “@USAGov this man threatening us has your green card, his whole family is in your country. But your secretary told us that they will withdraw visa from electoral disruptors. Your ambassador is aware of the evil going on here.”
