Renowned filmmaker, Ugezu J Ugezu, has offered advice to single and unmarried women approaching marriageable age. In a message delivered in Igbo on his Instagram page, the veteran media personality suggested that if no man is pursuing marriage, and a woman is advancing in age, she should consider getting pregnant to have a child of her own.
Ugezu highlighted the changing societal norms, emphasizing that many things considered taboo in the past are now widely accepted. He cited examples of how, in earlier times, individuals born out of wedlock faced restrictions in terms of family inheritance and religious roles, but contemporary society has evolved to eliminate such prejudices.
The filmmaker encouraged unmarried women to embrace single motherhood, asserting that it has become a recognized and accepted aspect of modern society. Ugezu’s advice reflects a shift in societal attitudes towards unconventional paths to motherhood.
