The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has reportedly destroyed the private aircraft belonging to Ali Khamenei, Iran’s late Supreme Leader. Meanwhile, his son and reported successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, is said to be in Moscow receiving medical treatment for what sources describe as serious injuries.
In a statement shared on X on Monday morning, the IDF said the aircraft was targeted at Mehrabad Airport. According to the military, the plane had been used by Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials to “advance military purchases and manage communications with the Axis countries through domestic and international flights.”
The IDF added that “The destruction of this plane damages the Iranian terrorist regime’s leadership coordination capabilities with the Axis countries, the process of strengthening military capabilities, and the regime’s ability to rebuild,”
Meanwhile, new reports claim Mojtaba Khamenei is currently in Moscow undergoing treatment after being injured during a reported joint airstrike carried out by the United States Armed Forces and Israeli forces.
Mojtaba, 56, reportedly assumed leadership following the assassination of his father on February 28. However, several reports suggest he has since fallen into a coma due to the severity of his injuries.
According to the Kuwaiti news outlet Al-Jarida, Mojtaba was secretly flown out of Iran on a Russian military aircraft to receive urgent medical care in Russia. The report claims the operation was kept highly confidential and that the procedure was “personally offered by Putin”, referring to Vladimir Putin.
The outlet reported that Mojtaba was taken to one of Putin’s presidential residences where he later underwent “successful” surgery.
Although the claims have not been independently confirmed, Al-Jarida said its information came from “a ‘high-ranking source close to the new Iranian Supreme Leader’.”
The source reportedly said Mojtaba was injured early during a military operation referred to as “Operation Epic Fury”, and that his injuries could not be properly treated inside Iran due to ongoing attacks from the United States and Israel.
It remains unclear whether Mojtaba sustained his injuries in the same strikes that reportedly killed his 86-year-old father.
Another source, who communicated through encrypted messages with an exiled Iranian dissident in London, claimed the situation is extremely serious and that Mojtaba had been receiving treatment at Sina University Hospital.
The source said: “One or two of his legs have been cut off. His liver or stomach has also ruptured. He is apparently in a coma as well,”
The same individual, who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons, said Mojtaba was being treated by Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, Iran’s Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, who is also known as one of the country’s leading trauma surgeons.
Speaking at a press briefing, Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defence, also commented on Mojtaba’s condition.
He said: “We know the new so-called, not-so-supreme leader is wounded and likely disfigured,”
