Shooting Stars, one of Nigeria’s most famous clubs, have been relegated to the lower league after losing 1-0 at Nembe City on Saturday.
The loss leaves the club with 43 points from 36 matches to remain rooted at the bottom of the table.
With two games to go, 3SC, the first Nigerian club to win an international trophy, can only have 49 points which would hardly be enough to keep them afloat.
Rotimi Omaniwa scored in the 37th minute to hand the hosts the one-nil win.
