Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has publicly responded to mounting criticism over her social-media commentary on the marital saga of fellow actress Regina Daniels and her husband, billionaire politician Ned Nwoko.
In an Instagram post, Doris rejected claims that she was simply “content creating” from someone else’s family crisis. “They said stop posting. Some said content creating. Nooo… Media is our weapon. The world must know what’s going on… Nobody will close their mouth until Sammy comes out.. This injustice must stop. God, please come through for us #FREESAMMYNOW @nigerianpoliceforce . nednwoko.” she wrote.
Her statement came after backlash from commenters who accused her of using a colleague’s deeply personal marital and family struggles as fodder for social-media attention.
Background to the Saga
The controversy centres on Regina Daniels’ marriage to Ned Nwoko and related allegations. According to multiple reports, the actress has been dealing with internal strife including claims of mental/emotional distress and a refusal to open her door to anyone amid the marital issues.
Additionally, Regina’s brother, Sammy West, was reportedly arrested and denied bail, which has ignited tremendous public interest.
Doris Ogala says she is not willing to remain silent. She emphasises that by going public she is standing up against what she terms an “injustice”. Her call-to-action (#FreeSammyNow) broadens the picture from just marital drama to alleged legal and mental-health implications for those involved.
