The 2023 presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has finally addressed President Bola Tinubu’s fall at the Eagles Square during the 2024 Democracy Day celebration.
On his official social media account, Obi emphasized the need for compassion, empathy, and unity to strive for a better future for Nigeria.
Obi expressed, “I was saddened to hear about President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well. Gloating over an accident that could happen to any of us serves no purpose.
“We must recognize our common human frailty despite our disagreements on moving Nigeria forward.
“Let’s concentrate on the issues that will bring about a new Nigeria. May this moment remind us of our shared humanity and the necessity for compassion, empathy, and unity in our quest for a brighter future for our great nation.”
Previously, Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, also extended his sympathy to Tinubu following his fall.
He stated, “I sincerely sympathize with President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT, over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him.”
The incident occurred when President Tinubu slipped while boarding the parade vehicle at the Eagles Square. His security details and aides quickly rushed to his aid, assisting him in regaining his balance.
According to Naijalog, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on social media, Dada Olusegun, played down concerns, insisting that there are no issues with the President’s health.
