Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, has officially defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Reuniting with Peter Obi
The lawmaker made the announcement on Wednesday in Enugu, shortly after former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi formally declared his membership in the ADC. Abaribe, who had previously joined APGA in 2023 to contest his senatorial seat, declared his full allegiance to the new party, citing Peter Obi as his political guide.
The Declaration
In his statement, Abaribe confirmed his resignation from APGA and expressed optimism about the future under the ADC platform alongside Obi.
He stated:
“Let me also announce that I have resigned from the All-Progressive Grand Alliance
So as of now, I am fully in ADC. Following my brother and our leader, Mr Peter Obi, I wish all of us well, and I know that we’re going to get there,”
