Nigerian artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed his opinion that cannabis, often referred to as weed, should not be classified as a hard drug.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido discussed his foundation’s efforts to support orphanages and combat drug abuse.
Addressing critics who labeled him a hypocrite for advocating against drug abuse while using cannabis, the singer clarified that he does not view weed as a hard drug.
He said: “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.
“A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.”
