Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest individual, reveals that despite being born into a wealthy family, he didn’t inherit any of their riches. The Nigerian billionaire, who recently surpassed Johann Rupert to claim the title of Africa’s richest man, shared in a recent interview the affluent history of his family, highlighting his great grandfather’s stature as the wealthiest man in West Africa during the 1940s. Moreover, his grandfather and father were also prosperous businessmen involved in both business and politics.
Despite this legacy, Dangote proudly asserts that he built his wealth from scratch without relying on any familial inheritance. While acknowledging that his father did leave him a substantial amount in his will, Dangote chose to donate it to charitable causes.
