Famous nightlife entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has officially thrown his hat in the ring for the 2027 general elections. The influencer announced via Instagram that he intends to run for a seat in the House of Representatives under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Strategy: Freeing Nnamdi Kanu
Describing his decision as a calculated strategic move, Cubana Chief Priest explained that aligning with the ruling party is the most effective way to influence federal decisions, specifically regarding the release of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He argued that operating from the opposition limits one’s capacity to bring about real change.
He stated:
“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG renewed hope,”
From Peter Obi to Tinubu
Addressing the contrast with his stance during the 2023 elections, where he publicly backed Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the socialite clarified that his past support for the “Obidient” movement occurred while he was serving as a Special Adviser to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma. However, he emphasized that his loyalty has shifted for the upcoming cycle.
He declared:
“Last election, as special adviser to Governor hope, I worked for Peter obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,”
A Call for Youth
Cubana Chief Priest noted that his move represents a transition from digital influence to active governance, stressing that the South-East requires younger, influential voices within the system to negotiate effectively for the region.
