A Kitwe husband who always suspected his wife of having extramarital affairs always inspected her vagina whenever she returned home from a business trip. According to evidence before the local court, Alice Kapengele, 37, started buying and selling vegetables because her husband did not provide for the family. She told Garneton senior presiding magistrate Mutono Banda that her husband suspects that she goes out to sleep with other men as she goes to sell vegetables.
Kampengele said she found it odd that her husband always bought underwear for the couple’s oldest daughter and was concerned about sentiments that he wanted to be the first person to have sex with her. Kampengele’s husband, Adyson Mwape, 46, sued her for divorce on grounds that she drinks alcohol excessively and sniffs a traditional powder popularly known as insunko.She pleaded with the court not to grant the couple divorce. Then two got married in 1997 and have four children together. She testified that problems in their marriage started immediately after they got married because her husband wanted her to stop drinking alcohol despite him knowing that she used to drink before they got married.Kapengele also accused her husband of lacking respect and love for her such that he does not buy her any clothes but that he goes around buying pants for their daughter. But Mwape, who testified earlier, accused Kapengele of being disrespectful towards him to an extent that she has continued to drink alcohol and sniff insunko despite him telling her to stop.He also accused Kapengele of having infected him with a sexually transmitted disease at one point and that despite having forgiven her, she had never changed her ways, hence his decision to divorce her.Garneton senior presiding magistrate Mutono Banda adjourned the case to a later date
