HOW OSHIOMHOLE SPENT N400 MILLION IN US -PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo State, has alleged that the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, spent over N400 million to attend Edo Convention in Chicago, United State of America.

Edo State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, said this at Anegbette, Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state, when he welcomed hundreds of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including a former Edo State auditor of the APC, Mr Omo Abu, to the PDP.

The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Louis Odion, however, described Orbih’s utterance as untrue, pointing out that the Edo PDP chair has a penchant for disregarding facts.

“Contrary to his mischievous lie, the Comrade Governor visited Chicago not privately, but to honour Edo community in United States on invitation as a Special Guest at their annual convention.

Orbih alleged that the sum of N26 million was given to 13 APC lawmakers, who attended the convention, while seven traditional rulers in the state got N17 million to attend the same convention.

He added that the sum of N22.5 million was given to the governor’s Chief of Staff and other aides to attend the convention while the governor as well as the chairman of the state economic team got N14.7 million and N17.1 million to go to New York and Miami, respectively.

Orbih added that about N428 million was spent on what he described as socio picnic that had no bearing on the development of Edo State, pointing out that amount could have been channeled to develop social infrastructures in the state.

“Governor Oshiomhole travelled by commercial airline. Anyone who bothers to double-check would find that Comrade Oshiomhole is perhaps, one of the few governors today who travel with the smallest entourage, if not totally alone, with a view to saving costs,” Odion stated.
