NAN-Less than 72 hours after masts belonging to major telecommunication companies were destroyed in Borno, Yobe and Bauchi states, some group of vandals on Saturday destroyed masts belonging to MTN telecommunications at Dong village of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

 It was gathered that a security man guarding the facility was tied to a tree before the vandals carried out the act

 

Mr. Nansak Bable, a resident of the area, who witnessed the incident, told our correspondent that he woke up early Saturday morning and saw rays of torchlight coming from the mast and he thought it was the normal maintenance routine.

 

Bable said the vandals also carted away generator supplying power to the facility and as a result, residents of the area cut off from mobile phone services.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Abuh, who confirmed the incident said that no arrest had been made, but stated that the police had launched an investigation into the incident.
