Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has revealed the exact quantities of ingredients she used in her historic quest to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The landmark event took place on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, drawing thousands of enthusiastic supporters.
Inside the Record-Breaking Recipe
In a video posted on TikTok (@hildabacion), Hilda detailed the massive supplies behind the Guinness World Record attempt, including:
- 4,000 kg of washed basmati rice
- 612 kg of cooking oil
- 800 kg of Gino Asun peppered chicken & party jollof
- 600 kg of her signature jollof pepper mix
- 220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes
- 20 g of curry powder and 7 g of thyme
- 300 kg onion–garlic–ginger blend
- 164 kg of fresh goat meat
- 1,200 kg of cooking gas
The chef noted that it took nine hours of steady heat, teamwork, and passion to prepare over 16,600 servings of the beloved dish, cooked with what she described as “joy, love, and community.”
How She Prepared for the Big Day
Hilda initially announced that the cook-off would be held at Muri Okunola Park, but later switched the venue to Eko Hotel. In the weeks leading up to the attempt, she and her crew rehearsed with the enormous pot to perfect their process. By 4 a.m. on event day, the giant container had arrived, setting the stage for a historic culinary moment.
