Grammy-winning singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has set a new benchmark in philanthropy by donating a staggering ₦150 million to social media critic VeryDarkMan’s (VDM) non-governmental organization, the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative.
The Evidence
The donation was made public by VDM via a video on his Instagram page. To verify the claim, the activist displayed transaction receipts showing that the funds were transferred directly from Spaceship Collective (Burna Boy’s brand entity) to the NGO’s Zenith Bank account.
Breaking Records
This latest contribution officially makes the singer the highest individual donor to the initiative, surpassing the ₦100 million record previously set by music mogul Don Jazzy in October 2024. This follows reports of a previous $145,000 donation from the singer in December 2025.
The Mission
According to the activist, this substantial sum is not for personal use but is dedicated to humanitarian efforts. He clarified that the funds will be used to secure the release of inmates who are in prison and also clear the medical bills of impoverished Nigerians.
