Controversial street-hop artist Portable has sparked a new debate while reacting to the tragic death of Afrobeat singer Destiny Boy. In a viral video, the “Zazu” crooner boldly claimed that the late musician possessed more vocal talent than Grammy-winner Wizkid.
Talent vs. Support
Portable lamented that despite Destiny Boy’s superior singing ability, he struggled to reach his potential because he lacked the necessary backing. He used the opportunity to pray for his own longevity, citing the prevalence of insincerity in the industry.
He said:
“Destiny Boy, we miss you. He knew how to sing more than Wizkid, but he didn’t have any helper. God, please don’t let me die young. Make sure you don’t die because there is fake love everywhere.”
Health Struggles and Regrets
The singer also alleged that Destiny Boy had been secretly battling serious health issues without adequate support. Furthermore, Portable criticized the late singer’s decision to sever ties with his former management team, the 2T Boys, suggesting that this move marked the beginning of his decline.
He added:
“If he died at his babalawo’s place, it was because of his sickness. He had been facing a lot on his own. I don’t know why he left his helpers, 2T Boys. Everything changed for him when he left them,”
These remarks come just days after Portable regained his freedom following a detention related to a dispute with his baby mama, Ashabi Simple. His latest comments have drawn mixed reactions, with some fans acknowledging the harsh realities of the music business, while others criticized him for making comparisons during a time of mourning.
