This comes in the wake of alleged insults directed at the Oba of Benin by Bobrisky, who, in a video last year, made a jest about the Oba marrying him. Many Benin youths perceive this as a disrespectful act towards their cultural norms, deeming Bobrisky unwelcome.
Reports suggest that the controversial socialite is set to return to the state for an event, prompting a widespread demonstration by the youth who vehemently express their disapproval. Protesters were observed carrying placards bearing messages such as “He is a bad influence; We don’t want him in our state.”
