The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), Bolaji Idowu, is currently in custody at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigerian Police in Abuja. He will remain there overnight as investigations into an alleged N1.5 billion fraud continue.
Earlier, NAIJALOG disclosed that Pastor Idowu, widely recognized for his “Next-Level Prayer Conference,” was being questioned by police operatives in connection to alleged real estate fraud and money laundering.
According to senior police officials at the FCID, the case originated from accusations against one of the church’s pastors, who reportedly defrauded multiple individuals through a real estate scheme. Investigations revealed that large sums of money from the scheme were traced to the church’s account and subsequently transferred to Pastor Idowu’s personal account.
“Pastor Bolaji Idowu is being detained and interrogated in Abuja over alleged real estate fraud and money laundering,” a police source confirmed.
Pastor Idowu founded HICC in December 2003. Over time, the church has grown to have multiple branches across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with a reported congregation of over 70,000 worshippers both online and onsite. The church’s “Next Level Prayers” initiative encourages participants to cultivate a strong prayer life, engaging audiences both physically and virtually.
