Former security guards turned internet sensations, the Happie Boys, have visited the OPM Church to publicly apologize to Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, two years after being deported from Cyprus where he had sponsored their studies.
The duo first gained attention in 2022 after a viral video showed them dancing at their workplace, which led to their dismissal from an eatery. Apostle Chibuzor then offered them scholarships to study in Cyprus.
While abroad, they reportedly lived extravagantly, spending funds meant for their upkeep. Their relationship with the clergyman soured when he stopped supporting them financially, prompting the pair to criticize him online a move that even drew a curse from the pastor at the time.
After being deported back to Nigeria in September 2023, they expressed regret and sought his forgiveness. Recently, in a trending video from an OPM service, they revealed that someone had allegedly persuaded them to attack the pastor, promising to help them relocate to the United States.
Social media users have since reacted:
- @askiaz__ questioned why neither of them resisted being influenced against their benefactor.
- @Ruch_Trc20 noted that life in Cyprus is expensive, hinting at why they mismanaged their money.
- @TruthBeToldOO1 described the saga as an example of how social media fame can derail young people, advising others to avoid undermining those who support them.
