Gunshots Heard Within the Vicinity of The American Consulate

Information reaching us have it that 2 gunshots were fired within the vicinity of the United States Embassy in Abuja today.

Although details remain scanty, the American Consulate posted on its site (http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/press releases.html) a press release saying:

“We believe there were shots fired in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy. The Nigerian authorities have two individuals in custody. We refer you to the Nigerian police for further information.”

The Nigerian Police on its own part have however refuted as insinuation that anyone had been arrested as reported by local and international media.
