Gunmen abduct secondary school teacher, demand N10 million ransome

A secondary school teacher in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, has been abducted by gunmen who demand a N10 million ransom for his release.

Mr Anthony Okwuagu, a classroom teacher at Adaigbo Secondary School, Ogwashi-Uku, was kidnapped as he was about to drive into his house last Sunday.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the abductors whisked off the teacher in his jeep, even as the gang reduced the ransom to N1million.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Charles Muka, who confirmed the report on Wednesday, said the whereabouts of the man and the vehicle was unknown, although the police were tracking the criminals.

Muka also disclosed that an armed robber was shot when a bandit attacked Jesus Saves hostel in Ogwashi-Uku.

The gang had engaged the police in a gun duel and the unidentified hoodlum was killed while others escaped with bullet wound.

One locally made double barrel gun, a cut-to-size double barrel, two live cartridges, six Nokia phones and N2,000 cash were recovered from them.

Also following a tip-off, a police patrol team at Oleh, in collaboration with the local vigilance group, have arrested one Owhe Emuhowho, Abada Jahswill and Francis Akpoghene with a  Perkins Mikano generator valued N2 million, property of Cottage Hospital, Irri.

DSP Muka said the suspects were undergoing interrogation.
