Following an update by Guinness World Records, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey’s feat is still not Uhuru.
The 27-year-old, who is presently trending on social media, unofficially surpassed Lata Tondon’s 2019 record by participating in an 87-hour and 45-minute cook-a-thon.
While many Nigerians and others from all over the globe congratulated Hilda on breaking the record, GWR has said that it is not an official record.
The multinational company, which began in 1955, was reacting to a Twitter user, @AlexanderDgreat, who queried why they weren’t discussing Hilda’s record.
GWR responded through their official Twitter handle, stating that they are aware of Hilda’s incredible record attempt but need to evaluate all documentation before formally declaring it as a record. GWR’s response is as follows:
“We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
