GTBank, one of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, has clarified that its website was not cloned but experienced what it described as an “isolated incident of an attempted domain compromise.”
The bank’s website has been inaccessible since Wednesday night, raising concerns among customers about potential data breaches. However, in a statement issued on Thursday, the bank emphasized that it does not store customer information on its website, ensuring there has been no data compromise.
GTBank also reassured its customers and stakeholders that their website had not been cloned.
“Our team of Information Security Experts is working tirelessly to restore the domain settings, and we assure our customers that the website will be back online shortly,” the bank stated.
The bank urged customers to disregard misleading media reports and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting customer data.
