Sanni and his cohorts collected the said sum after leading Mr. Williams to believe that they had the right of attorney to rent out a property  located at No. 6, Egbeyemi Street, Ilupeju.

Mr. William was coyed by an advertisement he had seen on Anthony Road, Ilupeju, for a vacant apartment at No. 6, Egbeyemi Street, Ilupeju.

After calling the number on the advert, he met with the agent who subsequently took him to a man who fronted as the landlord.

Both the purported agent and the landlord took William on an inspection of the apartment, on that fateful day  they  exchanged pleasantries and familiar banters with Sanni, the security guard.

The guard Sanni later denied knowing either the supposed landlord or agent.

All efforts by Williams and the police to trace the other fraudsters have failed as the addresses on the receipt do not exsist, while their phones numbers are permanently unavailable.

After the Magistrate heard the case, he adjourned commencement of trial to September 24, 2012, granting the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety.
