The Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Jonah Jang in his address to the Batch ‘B’ Corps members of the 2014 service year, at their passing out parade assured corps members posted to Plateau state of adequate protection. He urged them not to shun posting to any part of the state.
He encouraged them to embrace and respect the culture and tradition of their host communities. He said, “Let me assure you that your safety and well-being would be accorded priority wherever you may find yourselves within the state. The state government and various local governments are working in synergy with security agencies in the state to ensure that your lives and property are secured. You are enjoined to go about your lawful duties without hindrance. You must pay due respect to the culture and tradition of the host communities anywhere you are.”
In addition to this, State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Meller Benjamin, said that a total of 3,000 corps members were posted to the state, adding that anybody who wished to stay on the Plateau would be adequately looked after. She said that two female corps members delivered babies in the orientation camp, “when the corps members developed signs of labour, they were quickly rushed to a nearby health facility where they delivered safely, with the mothers and the babies doing fine.”Benjamin urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme, their states and the country.
