Governor  Babatunde Fashola today made good his threat by sacking all striking medical doctors in its  employ.
The doctors were each issued  a dismissal leter dated Friday, May 4, 2012, duly signed by the CMD of LASUTH, Professor David Oke.
Our correspondent gathered that around 1,100 doctors were affected by this government act which they are now describing as unconstitutional.
The Chairman of Medical Guild, Dr. Olumuyiwa Odusote, while reacting to the  sack of his members described it as a confirmation of the government’s insensitivity and insincerity to resolve the issue on ground, stressing that the Guild has handed the case to the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA for further action.
The Personnel Management Board, PMB, the disciplinary organ of government which met between 11 and 13 of April, 2012, established against the doctors a case of misconduct and absence from duty without leave or reasonable cause.
Excerpt of a letter by the PMB letter read thus:  “The committee therefore recommend your dismissal from service in accordance with the provisions of the civil service rule No 04502, 04507 and 04508. The board has therefore approved your dismissal”
“Therefore you are to convey the possession of the properties of the state government in your custody to the Chief Medical Director CMD”.
The current imbroglio is as a result of the  failure of Lagos State government to fully implement the earlier agreed Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, CONMESS.
