The opposition PDP governors have been cautioned by the federal government not to divert the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. In the face of the current economic challenges confronting Nigeria, the PDP governors had demanded President Tinubu’s resignation. On Sunday, February 18, the minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, released a statement dismissing the call for Tinubu’s resignation and asking the PDP governors to fulfill their elected responsibilities instead. President Tinubu, according to the minister, will not resign despite the economic hardship facing Nigeria, and he will continue to work towards overcoming the challenges and laying a strong foundation for a new Nigeria. The minister described the PDP governors’ call for Tinubu’s resignation as a distraction from supporting the President’s efforts to bring economic relief to Nigerians. The minister’s statement further stated that Tinubu has acknowledged the pain of ongoing reforms and assured Nigerians that the reforms will lead to lasting prosperity and national development. In related news, Toyin Raheem, the chairman of a non-governmental organization, Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance, has called for President Tinubu’s resignation, citing the failure of his administration and the growing kidnapping epidemic in the country.
