Gambia’s outgoing leader, Yahaya Jammeh, has finally agreed to cede power to internationally-recognized Adama Barrow.
The development comes after the embattled long time leader of the tiny west African country failed in three deadlines.
A France24 journalist in The Gambia, Nicolas Germain, quoted the The Gambian officials as saying Mr. Jammeh was writing a statement “where he accepts defeat.”
Jammeh is said to bein talks with Mauritanian and Guinean leaders, who are persuading him to step down to avert being forced out by ECOWAS troops already in his country.
