The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has declared that it would hence forth confiscate vehicles with expired and substandard tyres within the country.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, revealed this at the Stakeholders’ Forum on Tyres.
The theme of the forum was tagged ‘Promoting Safe Tyre use in Nigeria’’ and was set up by the FRSC in Abuja,
Oyeyemi said during the forum that the FRSC came to the decision because all the crashes the Corp had recorded in February 2016 were tyre related.
Oyeyemi: “We are going to start impounding any vehicle that has expired or substandard tyre and then we will arrange for the continuous journey of the passengers. That’s the new method to preserve lives.”
