Former pastor of the City of David Parish under the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Idowu Iluyomade, has launched a new church in Lagos.
Reports indicate that the new ministry, known as Family Fellowship, is situated in Victoria Island.
Idowu Iluyomade’s resignation from RCCG followed his suspension by the church’s board last year. The suspension came in the wake of widespread criticism regarding his lavish celebration of his wife’s 60th birthday, which was deemed insensitive as it occurred soon after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe in a helicopter crash in the United States.
Family Fellowship held its inaugural service on Sunday, January 19, signaling the start of Iluyomade’s new chapter in ministry.

Reactions trialling Pastor Idowu Iluyomade’s new church
It_Chioma penned: “Church business will continue to strive in Nigeria because people want to believe in something. They want to believe someone is responsible for their problems, they want to believe their pastor has all the solutions to their problems and that he can save them. Pastors on the other hand use this mindset as a weapon to extort the people.”
philkikis stated: “He’s not the first pastor to be suspended from RCCG, and he won’t be the last!!! they all went ahead to open their’s and became independent pastors, with RCCG experience!!! 85 of new churches with new names emanated from RCCG, Their lead pastors were either suspended or left RCCG. Go and verify 👌.”
