Following the death of a prominent chieftain, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been thrown into mourning. This time, PDP former national chairman Vincent Ogbulafor is said to have died in Canada at the age of 73. A family member who requested anonymity confirmed Ogbulafor’s death and said he died of an unspecified illness.
After a bitter national battle between Senator Sam Egwu and Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Ogbulafor became the PDP’s first national secretary before becoming National Chairman.
When he disagreed with the powers that be, he was forced to resign as PDP national chairman. Ogbulafor was later charged with financial irresponsibility while serving as a minister. He was said to have boasted that the PDP would rule for 40 years, but that dream was cut short when the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated it in 2015.
